Summer Refresh

NOW IS THE TIME…

to get started on your summer refresh projects around the house.

Summer is a good time of year to start refresh your home and service the systems. When the fall comes around as quickly as it always does, you’ll be thanking yourself—and us—for helping you prepare for a busier time of the year. Preparing is always key. Take a lesson from the fashion industry. Right now, magazines are shooting holiday gift guides and cozy recipes by the fire. Sounds like the last thing anyone wants to think about in middle of their summer vacation. When that time comes around are you the person hustling and scrounging around to make the holidays perfect for the big family gatherings while swearing, “I’ll never do this again?” Meanwhile, the dishwasher breaks down and the heater starts making noises, oh hell, let’s throw in a running toilet and leaking faucet to quadruple down on the annual chaos. It’s your choice, you can control the controllables by tackling small projects to avoid a huge pile up later. Below is a helpful checklist to get you started.

You can thank us later by saving us some stuffing. Mmm

SUMMER REFRESH CHECKLIST

Faucets - check all faucets (including outside hose bibs) and shower heads for leaks, then check to see if the finishes and styles are alike. Having complimentary styles and finishes create an overall cohesive look throughout a home. Yes, it’s sublet, however, if it’s wrong and not functioning properly, it’s noticeable.

Appliances - listen for strange sounds and keep an eye out for leaks. Stoves, garbage disposals and dishwashers are the hardest working appliances during the holidays so it would be wise to have them serviced or upgraded. There is a beautiful two drawer dishwasher out there just waiting to make your life easier.

Toilets - gently jiggle the handle to make sure its tight, listen for sounds when it’s filling up after flushing and is it taking too long, do you notice water around the base, is the water filling up low in the bowl?

AC - check for leaks around the unit, keep an eye on the thermostat settings and extreme temperature changes.
