It’s wise to use the springtime to prepare your home as June eases into the heat of the summer. The last thing you want is to be in the midst of a heatwave and have your AC break down on you. This is especially dangerous for senior and infants…aaand all of us individuals spoiled with central air conditioning.
Before turning on your AC, we recommend having it serviced to make sure it is in working order. If there is some life left in your current unit, but you know an upgrade will be needed soon, now is the time to plan for such a purchase. New HVAC systems are not cheap, even the cheap ones are pricey. Having your system serviced will provide you with a timeline for the longevity of the components. This will also give you an idea of the potential costs for necessary repairs or replacements. Most HVAC companies offer financing, however, if you start saving a bit each week or month it will reduce the amount you need to finance.
Be sure to ask your HVAC company if they offer an extended labor warranty. A one year guarantee on labor is common for most companies, however you will save money if you request an extended guarantee. While the parts on your newly installed unit are covered by the manufacturer, the labor is not. You can bypass paying thousands after spending thousands for a new unit with an extended labor guarantee. It is well worth it for the day after the one year labor guarantee expires and a coil needs to be replaced. We priced out the cost of labor for installing warranty covered parts and it was a gut punch to how expensive it could get.
